Gifts?

Wow, you must really, really love us

Your presence alone is your gift to us and we have more than we need. But, if you're stubborn and rich, here is our honeymoon fund.

Questions?

Let's talk about it.

"New Mexico? What’s that?"

You don’t need your passport, New Mexico is a state between Texas and Arizona.

We live in Santa Fe but are getting married 77 miles north in El Prado, NM. It takes about 90 minutes to drive up from Santa Fe. It takes about 2.5 hours to drive up from Albuquerque. If you find yourself at the Mexican border, you turned the wrong way.

For out-of-towners, welcome! If you’re coming from sea level, keep in mind we're celebrating at 7,000 ft elevation and encourage you to drink water, wear sunscreen and pace yourself with the Voodoo Ranger tallboys.

"Cool, how do I get there?"

For those flying in from out of town, thank you for travelling to celebrate with us. Here are some details about traveling into New Mexico.

- Fly into Albuquerque or Santa Fe airport
- Santa Fe is 77 miles (1.5 hours) from Taos
- Albuquerque is 142 miles (2.5 hours) from Taos
- Renting a car and driving up to Taos is the best move

"Man, I'm gonna be exhausted after all that dancing. Where do I sleep?"

There are plenty of hotels and Airbnbs in the area. Stay near the Taos Plaza to be closest to the venue, or out near Taos Ski mountain to be closer to hiking and mountain biking. Here are some of our faves:

Taos Inn: https://taosinn.com/
El Monte Sagrado: https://www.elmontesagrado.com/
Palacio de Marquesa: https://www.marquesataos.com/
Hotel Willa: https://www.hotelwilla.com/
Hotel La Fonda de Taos: https://www.lafondataos.com/

"I wanna go to your wedding, but a hotel? In this economy?!"

For our low maintenance friends, bring your camping gear and pitch a tent at the wedding venue. Or drive your camper. There are public showers and bathrooms on site.
Camping is free and the coyotes seldom bite.

Ideally your tent isn’t behind the altar.

"I plan on getting absolutely slobberknockered at your wedding. Can I Uber?"

Love that for you. But rideshare out in these parts is limited. However, there will be a private shuttle available to pick you up at your hotel and take you back up until 11pm. Enjoy yourself accordingly.

"Ugh, I'm sick of hearing about your wedding. What else can I do in NM?"

GORGING:
The Taos Gorge is like a mini Grand Canyon (but it’s doing its best). You’ll see it on the drive up from Santa Fe. Get closer to it by driving over the bridge or hiking trails.

Taos Gorge Bridge: https://taos.org/explore/landmarks/gorge-bridge/
West Rim Trail Hike: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-mexico/west-rim-trail

RAFTING:
Water is low during September but you can slow float down the Rio Grande.

HIKING:
Detox before you retox at the wedding. These hikes are in the Taos and are ranked from really brutal to just a stroll.

Meg’s Favorite: Wheeler Peak, highest peak in NM, 8.3 miles, +3000 elevation, OR stop at Williams Lake for an easier but beautiful hike. Be sure to grab a brat and beer at The Bavarian on your way out.

Some others:
Bull of the Woods - 6.2 miles
Middle Fork Lake - 4.7 miles
South Boundary Trail to First Peak - 3.8 miles
Devisadero Loop Trail - 5.7 miles, +1300 ft

PUEBLO
Immerse yourself in 1000 years of history and take a stroll around an ancient Pueblo belonging to the Tiwa people. Open from 9-4.

MOUNTAIN BIKING
Wanna go downhill, fast? Check out Taos Bike Park. Ride the life up then enjoy scenic alpine terrain for all ability levels: https://www.skitaos.com/biking

SPAS
Ojo Caliente is a fancy spa resort in a remote location with natural hot springs. Book the private tubs or sit half naked with strangers and mix things up, it’s your call: https://ojosparesorts.com/ojo-caliente/

Or if your looking for a more "rustic" experience and potential nudist sightings, check out Black Rock Hot Springs, all natural thermal pools along the Rio Grande.

WINE, PLEASE:
On the drive to Taos from Santa Fe, stop and shhhlllurp up some local wine at these quaint wineries.

La Chiripada Winery: https://lachiripada.com
Black Mesa Winery/Cidery: https://www.blackmesawinery.com/

GOLF
Golf in September in NM is a great way to spend the day unless you are on pain pills and flip your SUV afterwards. Please don’t do that. Here are golf options close to the venue.

Rather spend some time in Santa Fe instead? Great call. Feel free to text Meg or Brock for local suggestions.

Red or Green?

Eat Taos chile at your own risk.

If you’re interested in New Mexico’s world-famous red and green chile, we strongly recommend eating it in Santa Fe, Pojoaque, Espanola or Albuquerque.
